What is BYOM?

A 10-week online experience where kids learn the art of stage magic by building their own props and practicing one-on-one with a professional magician. All supplies are shipped to your door, and every lesson leads to their very own performance by summer’s end.

This was so popular in 2023 that we decided to bring it back in 2025!

Tired of Scrambling for Something—Anything—That Works?

✘ Another day lost to YouTube or gaming
✘ Sibling bickering while you're trying to work
✘ Daily routines that feel like chaos instead of summer
✘ Every “free” hour turns into another meltdown or mess

It doesn’t have to feel like this. BYOM gives your child something meaningful to focus on—online, yes, but guided, hands-on, and purpose-filled. And it gives you a little breathing room, too.

If summer’s already starting to stress you out, this is your move.

Big Wins. Little Screen. No Commute.

Kids build their own stage magic show—props and all—while learning focus, creativity, and performance skills along the way. Every week adds a new trick and a new burst of confidence. And because it’s one-on-one and fully guided, they actually stick with it.

The program is led by Head Magicians Annie and Brian, two seasoned performers and educators who’ve been teaching kids online for over five years. With deep experience in both magic and youth coaching, they know how to keep kids engaged, challenged, and proud of their progress.

After seeing the results from 2023’s summer program, we knew we had to bring BYOM back—better than ever.

What Makes This Program So Powerful

Summer-Long Structure

The 10-week curriculum keeps your child learning and growing so you don’t have to plan every day from scratch, which means more calm and fewer “What now?” moments.

Zero-Prep for Parents

We ship all supplies right to your door so you’re never scrambling for materials, which means you get the magic without the mess.

A Magic Show They Actually Build

Kids use cardboard, tape, glue, and creativity to construct full-size magic props so they can perform for a real audience at home, which means true ownership, confidence, and wow-worthy results.

This isn’t just another activity. It’s a full-on transformation.

How It Works

Step 2: Receive Your Magic Kit

Once enrolled, we ship everything your child needs—so you’re ready, excited, and stress-free on day one.

Step 3: Build the Show Week by Week

Your child joins live, one-on-one Zoom lessons each week to learn new tricks, build their own props, and grow their skills with expert coaching.

Step 4: Watch the Final Performance

At the end of the program, your child puts it all together into a full magic show—performed live for family, recorded for fun, or shared however they choose. It’s their moment to shine.

What Does a Typical Class Look Like?

Every 90-minute session follows a consistent, kid-friendly rhythm:

  • Check-In & Warm-Up: We celebrate last week’s wins and get focused
  • Build & Learn: Your child creates the prop and learns how to use it
  • Practice & Polish: We rehearse together and talk performance tips
  • Preview the Next Trick: A sneak peek at what’s coming next

By the end of 10 weeks, your child has a full magic show they’ve built from scratch.

What Parents Are Saying

From Shy to Showstopper

She told me on the way home that she's usually really nervous in public or when talking to new people. But when she does magic, she's not nervous at all.

Magic Community

We have students in over 100 cities, making us a whole community of real magicians. From beginner to advanced, our students support and learn from one another, as well as their instructors. At SOMA, we're all excited about magic, and we love to share.

About

It’s More Than Magic Tricks. Here’s What Sets Us Apart.

  • One-on-One Coaching: Your child gets personalized attention every week—so they stay focused, encouraged, and never get lost in the crowd.
  • Props They Actually Build: From cardboard to curtain call, kids create their own stage-ready magic props—no cheap plastic or store-bought kits here.
  • Everything Shipped to Your Door: No prep. No errands. Just open the box and let the magic begin.
  • Fits Your Family’s Summer Schedule: With flexible timing and recorded lessons, this program works around vacations—not the other way around.
  • Inclusive and Neurodivergent-Friendly: We’ve designed BYOM to support all learners. Every child is welcome, respected, and encouraged to shine in their own way.
  • A Real Magic Show by the End: Your child finishes with something tangible, performable, and proud-to-show-offable. It’s not just learning—it’s a big finish.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Tech Do We Need?

keyboard_arrow_down

Just a device with a camera that can be tilted to see the table top (laptop or tablet preferred), a stable internet connection, and a quiet space to spread out. No fancy lighting or stage needed—just enough room to practice and perform.

My child is neurodivergent. Will this work for them?

keyboard_arrow_down

Absolutely. We’ve built BYOM to be inclusive, flexible, and respectful of different learning styles. Your child will be supported every step of the way.

$1,400 feels like a lot for a summer program—why is it priced that way?

keyboard_arrow_down

This includes 10 weeks of 90-minute one-on-one instruction, a full magic kit, all supplies shipped to your door, and access to recordings. It’s a full experience—more comprehensive (and more flexible) than most in-person camps.

What if we’re away during one of the weeks?

keyboard_arrow_down

No problem! Every lesson is recorded and added to your private library, so your child can catch up anytime that works for your schedule.

What if my child loses interest halfway through?

keyboard_arrow_down

Each week brings a new trick and new skills that build toward a full performance. That sense of progress keeps kids engaged—and we’re right there to keep them going.

Do we need to buy anything else?

keyboard_arrow_down

Nope! Everything they need is in the box we send. You won’t need to shop for supplies or prep anything in advance.

Card Magic Camp!

Yes, that’s right, School of Magic Arts is finally offering a Card Magic Camp! We’ve been hearing for years that we need to offer a five day session focusing exclusively on cards, and this July, we’re finally doing it. SOMA students (new, current, and returning) will have the opportunity to hone their card magic skills in this week of camp.

We’ll be learning both classic and modern card illusions, cardistry, and the best ways to perform card tricks in several different kinds of environments. Everything they need to make card magic will be shipped to your door prior to the first day of camp.

If your child has an interest in cards, this is a perfect opportunity to try it out with a professional magician, and a camp full of other students!

  • 5 days of live, online camp
  • Instruction by a professional magician
  • Magic supply kit
  • Performance at the end of the week
